This shimmering silver air chased pendant features three 4mm swiss blue topaz stone set in tube bezel settings. The pendant is approximately .75″ wide and 1.5″ long. Net weight of pendant about 9g.
The process of this technique begins with annealing (heating) a silver tube in order to soften it. After hammering the ends and clamping the tube to a table, a dabbing punch set is used to create the craters and valleys in the metal. This processes work hardens the metal, and requires it to be annealed a number of times in order to soften the metal enough to continue shaping it. Once completed, the edges are smoothed and then three round tube bezel settings are soldered and the 4mm swiss blue topaz stones are set. After polishing the pendant, I apply protective wax to reduce tarnishing.
